Description of learning activity or program:

Facilitate a training workshop of the Student Conduct Program (SCP) to campus hearings officers, student hearings committee, and residence hall staff.

  • 1. How does this activity complement the University, Student Affairs, or unit’s mission, or meet the unit’s objectives?
    • This workshop will complement the University and the Office of Student Affairs by developing responsible and reflective actions through the enhancing in knowledge of those taking on the charge of enhancing student transitions and success through the Student Conduct Program. Participants will be trained to provide services and support to students and assist in maintaining a safe and secure campus. Participants will also become familiar with the professional and ethical standards and policies related to student conduct and student development.

    • By participating in the training workshop of the SCP, participants will learn about student development theory, the history of due process, the philosophies of the SCP and Student Affairs, and the processes of the SCP at Eastern Oregon University. The participants will gain an understanding of how to engage students in discussions that enables the student to understand how their actions and behavior can affect them now and in the future, thereby assisting with the development of the whole student.
  • 5. How will the achievement of this learning outcome be evaluated, measured, or assessed? Describe measures to be used.
    • Outcomes will be measured through instructor observations of participants in training sessions, role playing, a reflective paper, and/or participant feedback utilizing an on-line survey form.
