The Outdoor Program at Eastern Oregon University began in the Fall of 1973 when non-credit backpacking classes were offered and the first outdoor equipment was purchased. Since 1973 the program has continued to provide opportunities for the EOU community to learn about and explore the incredible natural environment surrounding La Grande.
Outdoor adventures since 1973
Today, the OAP oversees an equipment rental program that provides a wide range of outdoor recreation equipment for students, faculty/staff, and community members. The OAP also offers for-credit OUT courses, clinics, guided trips, climbing wall, and hosts an extensive outdoor adventure resource library.
The Outdoor Adventure Program is always hosting exciting workshops, events, and adventures. Check out the calendar and join us. The point is to get outside and enjoy the bounty of recreational options in our region.
The Outdoor Adventure Program maintains a diverse selection of outdoor equipment that is available to rent for students and community members alike from the program office in the Hoke Union Building Room 118.
Located inside Quinn Coliseum in the upstairs balcony of the main gym the climbing wall is available to students and community members. The climbing wall is open Monday through Thursday from 3:30pm to 8:00pm. We cater to large groups like scout troops, church groups, non-profit organizations, and also do private reservations for events like birthday parties. BOOK NOW!
