Upcoming Events

Sept. 16 – 20th: East Tracks – New Student Outdoor Orientation Program, Hells Canyon. This is a fantastic opportunity for new students to make new friends, enjoy novel outdoor experiences, and start building community. Trip is currently full w/ a waitlist.
Sept. 22nd: WOWFEST! Climbing Wall open from 8 – 10pm. Part of EOU’s Week of Welcome activities for incoming freshmen and transfer students. The climbing wall will be open to EOU students free of charge. No experience necessary and all gear is provided.
Sept. 25th: First Day of Classes – Fall Term
Sept. 27th: Activity and Club Fair – 11am – 1pm, EOU Quad – Check out the OAP booth. A great informative event where EOU students can learn how to get involved with student clubs and organizations on campus. The OAP will be there in the Quad with several outdoor clubs representing.
Oct. 2nd: OAP BBQ and SUPfest at Morgan Lake, 4 – 7pm. Join us for free food and paddle boarding! An amazing FREE event hosted by the OAP. Join us for a BBQ and paddle around on SUP’s and inflatable kayaks. Transportation is provided. Meet at the OAP, Hoke 118 at 4pm. Or meet us up at the lake.
Oct. 9th: Outdoor Wednesday – Rock Climbing at Spring Mountain, 3 – 7pm. It’s FREE! Do you wanna learn to rock climb? Or, wanna check out the area’s best crag? This is the trip for you. No experience necessary and all gear and transportation will be provided.
Oct. 12-13th: Volunteer Stewardship Project – Lick Creek Guard Station clean up. Participate in a local stewardship project helping renovate a Forest Service guard station. This is an overnight trip where students will work side by side with Wallowa Mountains Hells Canyon Trails Association (WMHCTA) volunteers and agency personnel. Transportation, food, and camping gear will be provided.
Oct. 12-13th: OUT 180 Rock Climbing Fundamentals, Field Sessions, 8am – 4pm. This is the field portion of the OUT 180 course. Students will learn the fundamentals of sport climbing at several of our awesome local crags in the area. Community members can enroll. Contact the OAP Director for details.
Oct. 17th: TriO student event – Disc Golf. The OAP in conjunction with the TriO program offers students an opportunity to check out EOU’s 18-hole disc golf course. This event is limited to TriO students.
Oct. 19-20th: Student Diversity and Inclusion (SDI) camping trip to Wallowa Lake. In partnership the OAP and SDI offer this weekend camping trip to gorgeous Wallowa Lake. This event is limited to SDI students.
Oct. 23rd: Outdoor Wednesday – Emmigrant Springs Hike, 3 – 6pm. It’s FREE! Join the OAP for this FREE hike on the nature trails at Emmigrant Springs State Park. Hike through old growth forests and check out Oregon Trail history. Transportation is provided. Meet at the OAP at 3pm.
Oct. 25-27th: Owyhee Canyonlands – Leslie Gulch Trip. Immerse yourself in desert splendor. Cost: $45. This landscape will make you think you’re in southern Utah. Join the OAP on this weekend adventure to the tantilizing canyon country of the Owyhee River. Hike through narrow canyons and check out amazing hoodoos, honeycomb cliffs, and spires. All experience levels welcome. All food, transportation, and gear provided by the OAP. Cost is $45.
Nov. 6th: Outdoor Wednesday – Mountain Bike MERA, 3-6pm. It’s FREE! We are lucky to have dozens of miles of awesome single track trails only minutes from campus up at the Mount Emily Recreation Area (MERA). Never mountain biked? No problem. This is the trip for you. The OAP will provide the mountain bike, gear, and transportation for FREE. Meet at the OAP at 3pm.
Nov. 8-10th: Rock Climbing Trip to Vantage, WA. Open to all abilities. Cost: $45. Join in on this exciting weekend trip to a premier climbing area near Vantage, WA. No previous climbing experience necessary and we encourage any EOU student interested in rock climbing to participate. The OAP will provide all transportation, gear, and food for the trip. Cost is $45.
Nov. 15th: Warren Miller Film, Timeless, Location: TBD, 7-9pm. In partnership with Anthony Lakes ski patrol, Wallowa Avalanche Center, and the EOU Ski and Snowboard Club we present Warren Miller’s latest movie, Timeless. Be a part of a tradition that goes back decades. Location TBD. Doors open at 6:30pm with the film starting at 7pm.
Nov. 16th: Anthony Lakes Ski Patrol – Ski Swap. Need to buy or sell ski or snowboard gear for the upcoming season? This is the event to ‘get er done’. A portion of proceeds go to support the good work of the A-Lakes volunteer ski patrol.
Nov. 19th: Avalanche Awareness Presentation, Location:TBD, 6:30-8pm. It’s FREE. The backcountry of eastern Oregon is a fabulous place to recreate in the winter, but there are hazards you need to be aware of and know how to avoid. Join OAP Director and Wallowa Avalanche Center forecaster, Michael Hatch for a free 1-hour avalanche safety presentation. Location: Zabel Hall Auditorium, Rm 101
Nov. 23rd: Anthony Lakes Pray for Snow Party, Baker City @ the Churchill School. Get stoked for winter with this awesome bash held at the Churchill School in Baker City. Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort will be showing TGR’s newest ski film and selling 2019/2020 season passes.
