Public Service Loan Forgiveness
One of the benefits of a Public Administration, Economics or PPE degree is that it prepares the student for employment in the public service. The College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007 established a public service loan forgiveness program. This program enables those who choose public service employment to have their loans forgiven after 120 on-time qualifying payments. This is essentially 10 years of qualifying payments while working full-time in public service and the remainder of your student loans are paid.
Employment that would qualify includes:
- teaching
- law enforcement
- local, state or federal government employment
- any non-profit agency
