Oct. 1, 2021 – Friday COVID Update

EOU Community,

It is critical to the ongoing health and safety of our campus community that every person stays vigilant about their daily health. Even minor symptoms like a runny nose or sore throat warrant staying home. We must all err on the side of caution and do not come to campus if you are, or may be, ill.

If you have concerns about missing work when you are ill, talk to your supervisor. Accrued sick leave, including COVID sick leave, may be used for these exact situations. Staying home when you have even one symptom can mean the difference in causing an exposure incident or keeping employees and students safe and in classrooms.

Please contact your supervisor or Human Resources if you have questions or if you’re unsure whether to come to work.

Additional reminders and updates:

  • Free, voluntary vaccination clinic on-campus Oct. 6: EOU will host a free, voluntary on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6 in the Quinn Practice Gym. This clinic is for students, faculty, and staff. All three vaccines (Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson) will be available. The COVID-19 vaccination is free. This clinic can be used for 1st or 2nd doses. Sign up at chdinc.org/oct6-eou-clinic. Drop-ins are welcome.
  • Tuesday testing at Bi-Mart: Free COVID tests are available each Tuesday at the La Grande Bi-Mart. If you’re having trouble accessing a test, contact your supervisor or Human Resources.

Regular hand-washing, proper face coverings and completing the Daily Health Check remain critical to maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment. Contact your supervisor if you feel unwell, or if you have questions about COVID-19 safety measures.

Thank you for your persistence in protecting the welfare of our campus community as we work to provide a high-quality education in rural Oregon. Find more information at eou.edu/coronavirus

Thank you,
