COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION

Commencement is scheduled for Saturday -
June 13, 2015 at 10:00am

Commencement should not be confused with “graduation.”  Graduation refers to the actual fulfillment of degree requirements resulting in the conferral of a degree and a diploma. Commencement is a ceremony. It is a time for you to celebrate your accomplishments along with your family, your friends, and the EOU community.

PARTICIPATION

If you are a graduating senior and plan to participate in the Commencement Ceremony please complete the participation card below:

PARTICIPATION CARD will be available beginning March 2015

REHEARSAL

Rehearsal for the Commencement Ceremony is scheduled on Friday – June 12 at 8:30 am.  Please meet in the large gym in Quinn Coliseum.  Participation is not mandatory, but it is very helpful to understand what the procedure will be for the actual ceremony on Saturday.

HONORS CORDS

Magna/Summa/Cum Laude honors cords may be purchased from the EOU Bookstore at the time you purchase your cap and gown.  Honors (for the Commencement Ceremony and Program) will be determined based on your cumulative GPA (including transfer credits if applicable) through winter term.  The EOU Bookstore will have a list of eligible graduates by mid April.  You can also email graduation@eou.edu for your GPA/honor qualifications after that date.

NO TICKETS NECESSARY!

Your family and guests do not need tickets to attend the Commencement Ceremony. Seating at Community Stadium is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have family or guests that require special accommodations, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 541-962-3607 or email registrar@eou.edu. Please keep in mind that the ceremony is outdoors, so your family should bring an umbrella for rain or sun. It’s also a good idea to layer clothing or bring a blanket in case of inclement weather.

The hood represents the University colors inside the hood; EOU colors are blue and gold.  The velvet trim on the outer edge of the hood represents the degree; MAT is light blue, MBA is bronze.  The Masters gown is very different from a bachelor gown, in that the sleeves have large extensions.
