Eastern Oregon University marks the conclusion of the academic year with its formal Commencement Ceremony Saturday, June 11 2016.
The outdoor event begins at 10:00 a.m. at Community Stadium located at 6th St. and “G” Ave.
Check in for participating seniors begins at 8:00 am in Quinn Coliseum.
The ceremony will also be available to view at livestream.com/eou.
Governor Kate Brown is giving the keynote address.
Also scheduled to speak is EOU President’s Scholar Cassie Gray-Jeffries of La Grande, who is completing her bachelor’s of science with a double major in anthropology/sociology and history.
Performing the National Anthem is Shahayla Ononaiye, of Kuna, Idaho, earning a bachelor’s of music and bachelor’s of science in business administration. Haley Hill, of Eagle, Idaho, will sing the Alma Mater. She is completing her bachelor’s of arts in English/writing.
No tickets are necessary to attend and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Free parking is available for the day in all campus lots, excluding reserved spaces. Guests should arrive early and bring sunscreen, water and a hat or umbrella.
Approximately 456 students are opting to participate in the ceremony, not to be confused with graduation. For the 2015-16 academic year, EOU is expecting to confer an estimated 700+ bachelor’s degrees, about 85 master’s degrees, nine associate’s degrees and one certificate, pending completion of final grades for spring and summer terms.
