Commencement Participation Sign-Up Form

The Commencement Participation Sign Up Form has closed. 
Please review the participation list for your name, and if not included, please don’t panic.

You may participate in Commencement if you have graduated or are graduating Fall 2016, Winter 2017, Spring 2017, or Summer 2017. If you are unsure whether you are eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony, please contact the Registrar’s Office at or call 541-962-3607.

Commencement check in is on Saturday morning beginning at 8:00 am in Quinn Coliseum.
Please check in by 9:15 am on Saturday!
Please enter from the north side of the building by the volleyball courts.


Your family and guests do not need tickets to attend the Commencement Ceremony. Seating at Community Stadium is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have family or guests that require special accommodations, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 541-962-3607 or email Please keep in mind that the ceremony is outdoors, so your family should bring an umbrella for rain or sun. It’s also a good idea to layer clothing or bring a blanket in case of inclement weather.


On Friday, June 16th, at 8:30 a.m., there will be a rehearsal for the June 17th Commencement Ceremony. Although rehearsal is optional, graduates are strongly encouraged to participate.  Rehearsal is an opportunity to become familiar with the layout of commencement, and what will be expected the following day.

Those graduates attending rehearsal should arrive at the Quinn main gym and enter through the north main entrance doors.
Look for signs around the building directing you to the entrance.


In early April, the University President will invite all qualified students to submit materials to be considered for the President’s Scholar Award. At that time the Academic Standards Committee will also send out information to the University Community encouraging the nomination of qualified students.

If nominated, the Registrar’s Office will additionally contact the student to let them know what application materials they will need to submit to be considered for the distinction.

The selected scholar will be notified by the University President and is invited to speak at Commencement as the President’s Scholar.


Commencement photos are taken by Grad Images. All graduates are photographed receiving their diploma.

Graduates will have two (2) photo’s taken during the ceremony that will be available for order.

Graduates from Eastern Oregon University can locate their graduation photos online by visiting  The following two pieces of information are required to access their account:

  • Last Name of graduate
  • Graduation Year

Robes, Cords and/or other Commencement regalia worn in conjunction with a particular program, club or other EOU department are handled through the particular college or club and is not under the purview of the Registrar’s Office – for questions please contact your program or club representative.


Eastern Oregon University Bookstore
has Bachelor and Master regalia in store for graduates to purchase. The bookstore will have the caps, gowns & honor cords available until commencement (typically including the day of the ceremony). Students can also order regalia by calling us at 541-962-3187 (other bookstore numbers 541-962-3691 or 541-962-3694).

  • HONORS CORDS will be sold only to students eligible to receive them. The Bookstore will have the list of eligible graduates.
  • EOU MASTER gowns, caps & tassels are BLACK, plus a HOOD is worn. The hood represents the University colors inside the hood; EOU colors are blue and gold. The velvet trim on the outer edge of the hood represents the degree; MAT is light blue, MBA is bronze, MFA is brown.
  • The Master gown is very different from a bachelor gown, in that the sleeves have large extensions.
  • OSU AG BACHELOR caps & gowns are BLACK with a MAISE (yellow) tassel.
  • NURSING BACHELOR caps & gowns are WHITE with an APRICOT tassel.

Rehearsal for the Commencement Ceremony is scheduled on Friday – June 16th at 8:30 am.  Please meet in the large gym in Quinn Coliseum.
Participation in rehearsal is not mandatory, but it is very helpful to understand what the procedure will be for the actual ceremony on Saturday.

4:00 pm - Sigma Theta Tau Induction Ceremony – Loso Hall Foyer (EOU campus) 

This is an event to honor the students who are being inducted into Nursing Honor Society – Sigma Theta Tau International.

Friday, June 16th

9:00 am - Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Induction Ceremony & Reception – Hoke 339

10:00 am - OHSU 34th Annual Convocation & Awards Ceremony – McKenzie Theatre (EOU Campus)

Academic achievements of students, recipients of particular awards and nursing pins are presented during this event.
A reception, hosted by the OHSU School of Nursing faculty and staff, will follow the convocation.
Your family and friends are cordially invited to attend this special celebration.

Eastern Oregon University marks the conclusion of the academic year with its formal Commencement Ceremony Saturday, June 17, 2017.

The outdoor event begins at 10:00 a.m. at Community Stadium located at 6th St. and “G” Ave.

Check in for participating seniors begins at 8:00 am in Quinn Coliseum.

The ceremony will also be available to view at

No tickets are necessary to attend and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Free parking is available for the day in all campus lots, excluding reserved spaces.

Guests should arrive early and bring sunscreen, water and a hat.
Umbrellas are discouraged so as not to block the view of other attendee’s.
Weather in Eastern Oregon can be unpredictable – please prepare for rain or sun.
