COMMENCEMENT CONDUCT AGREEMENT

By participating in commencement you agree to observe the following guidelines during the ceremony.

  • Commencement is intended to be a festive occasion celebrating the accomplishments of our students. However, it is also ceremonial. Cell phones are permitted, but out of courtesy for other participants, students are asked to make judicious use of phones and not use them during the formal speaking portions of the ceremony.
  • It is particularly important that students respect their fellow students, faculty, staff, administrators, and guests who have come to witness and participate in the conferring of their degrees.

Please plan post-ceremony activities accordingly.

There are a number of excellent locations around campus (and the valley) for photographs!

ALCOHOL POLICY

Alcohol is prohibited on EOU’s campus and around any ceremony and line-up areas. Students in possession of alcoholic beverages in any of the commencement areas or transporting alcoholic beverages into the ceremony will have the beverage confiscated. Drivers of vehicles will pass through a sobriety checkpoint before entering check-in for the ceremony. Drunk or disorderly behavior may result in legal citation or arrest. You are asked to respect the dignity of the Commencement Ceremony and comply with the provisions cited here.
