La GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University (EOU) extended a warm invitation to all students who took Dual Credit this year from Eastern. Eastern’s first-ever dual credit celebration BBQ allowed students from across the region, a day of exploration and discovery on campus.
Hosted by the Early College Initiatives (ECI) team at EOU, the campus tours provided students with a comprehensive view of the university’s offerings, extending beyond traditional classroom experiences. The itinerary included presentations and interactive sessions with faculty members from various departments, including business, music, chemistry, computer science, athletics, and more.
Kathleen Brown, Associate Director of Early College Initiatives, highlighted the significance of this opportunity for students. “This is an amazing opportunity for these students to explore campus and possibly pick a university that matches their ambitions,” said Brown. “Many of these students are looking for the next step in their educational journey, and we want to share everything EOU and celebrate their successes in the classroom at the same time..”
The day’s events started at 9 a.m. in the morning and went through the afternoon. Students enjoyed lunch on the sand volleyball courts, offering students a taste of the vibrant campus life at EOU.
There were four blocks throughout the day with nine activities students could pick from, students were divided into groups to engage with faculty members across disciplines, allowing them to delve into their interests and aspirations.
Brown emphasized that these tours serve as a platform for young individuals to discover the breadth of opportunities available at EOU. With 27 majors, 32 minors, three partner-program majors, and 11 pre-professional programs, EOU provides a diverse array of academic pathways tailored to student interests and career goals.
“We are always excited to showcase this unique university,” Brown remarked, “and show them all the possibilities that are right here in rural Oregon.”For more information about Eastern Oregon University and its offerings, visit eou.edu. To schedule a tour of campus follow this link.
