The ESOL minor prepares future teachers with the ESOL skills needed to successfully instruct English Learners from all over the world. It is a useful minor for those who wish to teach English in linguistically diverse schools in the United States, and for those who wish to teach English as a foreign language in another country. In addition, this minor provides opportunities for students in a variety of programs to learn more about diversity in the United States in the meaningful context of language studies.

The ESOL Minor (equal to a year of preparation) is designed for those seeking an endorsement in English for Speakers of Other Languages or wish to teach in the community or abroad. Candidates may add the ESOL endorsement to a license by completing the course of study; including 90 clock hours of practicum, and obtaining a passing score on the TSPC-designated test.
