Equipment Rental

THE RENTAL SHOP IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Located at the new fieldhouse. Access is via 6th Street and onto G Ave. Equipment pick up and return parking is available on the west side of the fieldhouse in the yellow striped parking spot next to the fenced gear storage area. Enter the facility via the main northwest entrance and lobby.

The Outdoor Adventure Program maintains a diverse selection of outdoor equipment that is available to rent by EOU students and staff, and the general public at the Fieldhouse located off 6th Street on G Ave.

We rent kayaks, rafts, paddle boards, bikes, snowshoes, cross-country skis, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, water filters, mountaineering equipment, climbing shoes, harnesses, avalanche safety gear, wetsuits, and much more. As a student fee funded program currently enrolled on-campus EOU students are members of the OAP and receive FREE rentals. EOU students are limited to renting equipment just for themselves…additional gear rented for friends or family will be charged at general public rate.

The general public is welcome to rent outdoor equipment after purchasing an annual OAP membership. EOU Alumni receive a 10% discount, Veterans receive a 15% discount, and EOU faculty and staff receive a 25% discounted rate. Additional charges apply to renters who return equipment late, lost, stolen, or damaged.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON RAFT RENTALS

Raft Packages – Two Types

  • We have two types of raft packages available to rent – paddle rafts and oar rafts.
    • Paddle rafts are mostly used for day floats and require multiple paddlers.
    • Oar rafts are mostly used for multi-day floats, include a frame, and meant for packing lots of gear.
  • Our rafts are either 14′ or 16′ in length. There is no difference in price.
  • We have Aire, Hyside, and NRS rafts. There are a total of 6 rafts in our inventory.
  • Each raft comes equipped with different gear as part of a packaged deal.

Paddle Raft Package

  • A paddle raft package includes:
    • 1 – 14′ or 16′ raft
    • Paddles (# based on # of passengers + 1 extra)
    • 1 large barrel pump
    • 1 small K Pump
    • 1 repair kit
    • 1 bow line
    • 1 throw rope
    • Small selection of straps
    • PFD’s (# based on # of passengers)
    • Helmets (# based on # of passengers)
    • 2 large dry bags

Oar Raft Package

  • An Oar raft package includes:
    • 1 – 14′ or 16′ raft
    • 3 – 9′ oars
    • 1 NRS frame – fits two dry boxes & one cooler
    • 2 NRS dry boxes
    • 4 dry box hangers
    • 1 cooler
    • 2 cooler hangers
    • 1 fire pan
    • 1 collapsible (roll) table
    • 1 large barrel pump
    • 1 small K Pump
    • 1 repair kit
    • 1 bow line
    • 1 throw rope
    • 1 cargo net
    • 1 cargo platform
    • PFD’s (# based on # of passengers)
    • Helmets (# based on # of passengers)
    • 110 liter large dry bags (# based on # of passengers)
    • Assortment of 1″ straps
      • 4 – 2′

RAFT RENTAL PROCEDURES

Raft Reservations

  • We accept raft reservations 6 months in advance.
  • All raft, kayak, or SUP reservations require a 50% non-refundable deposit of the total cost of the raft rental.
    • Deposits are NOT credited toward a future rental.
  • Raft reservations and deposits can be made over the phone. We do not accept American Express.

Security Deposits

  • All raft, kayak, or SUP rentals require a $300 refundable security deposit.
  • If all gear is returned free of damage, then security deposit is refunded to the credit card charged.

Raft Rental Pick Up & Return

  • Rafts need to be picked up and returned during regular OAP Rental Shop hours.
    • Exceptions can be made with prior arrangements w/ OAP staff.
  • Raft packages returned dirty will be assessed a $20 cleaning fee
  • Raft packages can be picked up and returned by 3rd party only if that is communicated to OAP staff before pick up.
  • Please let OAP staff know if you want to pick up the raft inflated or deflated.
    • If inflated, the raft will be set up with the frame attached.

Raft Rental, Transportation, & Float Information

  • We DO NOT rent trailers for the rafts. A good place to rent trailers locally is Eastern Oregon Rentals.
  • We DO NOT rent out toilet systems known as groovers. We do have toilet seats that are adaptable to 5-gallon screw top bucket set-ups.
  • The Minam put-in is about 45 minutes from campus.
  • There are several shuttle services that operate in the area.
  • The Minam Store is located at the put-in across the river. It has a general store w/ river maps and food items.
