Classes Taught in the Lab

MOVE Lab courses are offered in both in-person and online formats. Course descriptions, learning outcomes, applied projects, and student skill development are consistent across modalities.

EXS 321 – Applied Anatomy w/ Lab

  • Overview & Key Skills: Explores musculoskeletal structure and joint mechanics, building hands-on skills in joint movement evaluation, muscle action analysis, and anatomical movement assessment.
  • Career & Graduate Pathways: Prepares students for physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, exercise physiology, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, and rehabilitation careers.

EXS 322 – Biomechanics w/ Lab

  • Overview & Key Skills: Applies mechanical principles to human motion, equipping students to collect quantitative motion data, evaluate joint forces, and analyze sport performance.
  • Career & Graduate Pathways: Supports graduate preparation in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, biomechanics, kinesiology, sport science, and ergonomics.

EXS 423 – Sport Skills Analysis

  • Overview & Key Skills: Translates anatomical principles into movement observation, teaching students to conduct detailed video/image analysis, diagnose movement flaws, and design performance interventions.
  • Career & Graduate Pathways: Prepares students for physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, sport science, coaching, and movement education.

EXS 453 – Motor Learning and Control w/ Lab

  • Overview & Key Skills: Investigates the neurological foundations of human movement, developing practical skills in motor control analysis, skill acquisition, and neurological assessment.
  • Career & Graduate Pathways: Supports pathways in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, motor behavior, rehabilitation, and adapted physical activity.

EXS 455 – Applied Exercise Programming

  • Overview & Key Skills: Integrates physiology and biomechanics into custom training design, training students to select assessments, instruct exercise techniques, and build target-population programs.
  • Career & Graduate Pathways: Prepares students for exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, corporate wellness, personal training, and clinical rehabilitation settings.
