Getting to La Grande From Portland

Eastern Oregon University is located in LA GRANDE, in Northeastern Oregon. It is located approximately 4 hours from Portland, OR, 5 hours from Seattle, WA, and 3 hours from Boise, ID by car. Pendleton is approximately 1 hour from La Grande, also by car.
IMPORTANT UPDATE! Greyhound Bus has recently announced the discontinuation of its bus services between Portland, OR and Boise, ID effective January 16, 2025. This means that while service line remains the same, Greyhound Bus will *no longer stop at any of the communities between Portland and Boise, including La Grande.*
IMPORTANT NOTES
- It is not recommended to take a taxi / Uber / Lyft from Portland International Airport to La Grande, as it will be costly (260 miles / 418 km, one way by car).
- Portland International Airport offers car rental services: https://www.flypdx.com/GroundTransportation/RentalCar
- Boutique Air, with daily round trip service from Portland International Airport to Pendleton Regional Airport, is limited to eight passengers.
- KAYAK Public Transit #17 Arrow bus is fare-free. Because this route offers limited service, travelers may need to stay overnight in Pendleton to catch the bus the following morning. Staying at Wildhorse Resort & Casino is an affordable and convenient option.
- At this time, there are no travel options between La Grande and Boise Airport (BOI).
Traveling from Portland International Airport (PDX) to Eastern Oregon University
Fly into Portland International Airport (PDX), then catch a connecting flight from PDX to Pendleton Regional Airport (PDT) with Boutique Air. Air service from Portland International Airport (PDX) to Pendleton Regional Airport (PDT) is available with several flights daily. Please visit Boutique Air’s website for flight information (small aircraft) and to book a ticket in advance, as roundtrip flights are limited.

To take a taxi from the airport to the KAYAK Public Transit Hub, call any of the taxi and transit companies listed on the Pendleton Regional Airport website.
