The Diversity Committee’s mission is “To promote mutual respect, participation, and inclusiveness in all aspects of the university community, both on and off campus.” The Committee aims to foster a campus culture and climate that respects differences, encourages inclusiveness, and reflects diversity as a core value of the University.
The Diversity Committee actively supports programming and initiatives both on and off campus that promote and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Funding decisions are the sole authority of the Diversity Committee in compliance with EOU policies.
Funding is limited.
Eligibility
- The project/program/event must be specific to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Plans for the project/program/event (date, venue, general logistics) must be provided before funds will be awarded. The Diversity Committee will not fund the project/program/event after the project/program/event date.
- The project/program/event must directly impact the Eastern Oregon University community. The request must have clear projected learning outcomes and must be able to provide examples of metrics that will be used to measure outcomes.
- Purchases for the project/program/event must be congruent with the EOU guidelines of authorizing expenditure, https://www.eou.edu/busserv/accounts-payable-documents-forms-and-policies/
- The project/program/event must be free and open to the public and the EOU community, including a consideration for our online students, faculty, and staff.
- The funding request must be submitted by a university department or by a university-sponsored student, staff, or faculty organization.
- Project/program can only receive funds for one event per academic year.
- All funds awarded must be spent by the end of the academic year awarded.
- Projects/programs requesting more than $500 in Diversity Committee Funding must have a representative attend the Diversity Committee meeting at 11:00 am Friday, November 6 to give a short presentation and be available to answer any questions. - Funding decisions are the sole authority of the Diversity Committee in compliance with EOU policies.
Timelines
- Applications will be reviewed twice per term, during Weeks 5 or 6 and Week 10. Decisions will be made promptly.
- A funding report is due to the Diversity Committee Chair (jslinkard@eou.edu) 2 weeks after the program/project/event.
