In keeping with the spirit of the Utopia theme, faculty members in CAHSS read the book  Envisioning Real Utopias by Erik Olin Wright.  Through a political-economic lens (ie, who gets what, when, and how), Wright critiques our current system of allocating resources and power and proposes a wide range of solutions to make our economic and political systems more equitable.  It delves deep into theory while staying grounded in reality through the use of real world case studies that, if scaled up appropriately, could improve society.
