Description of learning activity or program:

The Student Leadership Program (SLP) is dedicated to promoting and providing leadership education to all students through social, cultural, recreational, and co-curricular opportunities that encourage learning through involvement.

    • This program will enhance the university mission through programs that lead to responsible and reflective action. The SLP will compliment the Student Affairs mission by encouraging and assisting students to exercise their rights and responsibilities within an academic community and an interconnected world. In addition, provide services and support that promotes and provides leadership education to all students.

    • By participating in the SLP students will gain experience and have opportunities that will allow for discovery of their potential as leaders; examine individual personal values, opinions, beliefs, and develop and enhance their personal philosophy of leadership.
  • 5. How will the achievement of this learning outcome be evaluated, measured, or assessed? Describe measures to be used.
    • Outcomes will be measured through a variety of reports, observations, evaluations of individual programs, annual random selection for evaluation opportunity, and evaluation of all participants of the SLP. By participating in the Student Leadership Program, 80% of the students will be able to give a definition of inspirational leadership and four characteristics of what it takes to be a leader and how individual values can be reflected in individual leadership styles, as well as be able to organize and conduct a meeting, develop and draft agendas, and lead others toward a specific goal. The assessment will be measured by the student’s participation in the program and conducting their own club/organization/event meetings.
    • NOTE: Assessment needs will impact program implementation.
