Study Area

The study area for this project encompasses the entire 63-mile rail corridor and an approximately 100 foot wide corridor. The corridor runs through forested areas, wetlands, agricultural plains, and steep canyons. The Eagle Cap mountains provide a backdrop for much of the corridor.

It is important to become familiar with the topography of the proposed area for your trail. Researching the land will provide your team with the physical limitations that may exist in the area. Know the areas to avoid will ensure a safer trail for users.

A physical corridor assessment may include components such as a site visit, field measurements, and gathering GPS data on where road crossings, bridges, and culverts are located. Other constraints and opportunities can be identified in the portion of the feasibility evaluation.
