LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University is proud to recognize Ron Wheeler, Food Service Director for campus dining, for his recent selection as one of six national Hospitality Trainers in the new Genuine Moments initiative by dining services partner Genuine Foods.
Wheeler’s appointment places him among an inaugural group of hospitality leaders selected from across the country to champion a culture of meaningful service and connection. As part of his new role, Wheeler traveled to Boston, Massachusetts, for intensive training designed to model and promote exceptional customer experiences in campus dining.
“Ron’s dedication and leadership go beyond the kitchen. His commitment to creating a warm and welcoming environment directly supports our mission to enhance the student experience at EOU,” said Mollie Rockafellow, Vice President of Student Affairs. “We’re proud to have staff on campus who genuinely care about our students and help foster a sense of belonging.”
Eastern Oregon University began its partnership with Genuine Foods in fall 2024 to enhance campus dining options and create more engaging, sustainable, and inclusive dining environments. Wheeler’s achievement reflects not just personal excellence, but also the university’s broader goal of employing individuals who go above and beyond to make EOU a great place to live and learn.
As a Hospitality Trainer, Wheeler will help implement Genuine Foods’ Genuine Moments program across the country—sharing techniques that build trust, foster community, and elevate the role of food service in student success.
Eastern Oregon University congratulates Ron Wheeler on this well-deserved honor and for his dedication to providing high-quality food to our students.
