English/Writing Minor

The English/Writing minor provides a basic understanding of the English language and literature. When combining this minor with a major, or with another minor, please contact a faculty member in English and Writing to help you choose elective classes.

WR 121 Expository Prose Writing

WR 281 Writing in the Community

Take one (1) of the following:

WR 241 Introduction to Fiction Writing
WR 242 Introduction to Poetry Writing
WR 243 Screenwriting Fundamentals
WR 248 Introduction to Writing in Genres

Choose one (1) of the following:

ENGL 371 British Literature before 1800
ENGL 372 British Literature after 1800
ENGL 381 American Literature before 1865
ENGL 382 American Literature after 1865

Choose one (1) of the following:

WR 341 Intermediate Fiction Writing
WR 342 Intermediate Poetry Writing
WR 348 Intermediate Writing in Genres

Choose one (1) of the following:

WR 360 Literacy, Discrimination, and Power
WR 393 Rhetoric of Public Culture

Electives:

Minimum of 10 electives credits in English and Writing at the 200-level or above, a minimum of 5 of which must be at the upper-division (300+)
