March 11, 2022 – Friday COVID Update

University Community, 

Beginning March 12 in most EOU settings, masks will be welcomed, but not required. In accordance with the changes in statewide recommendations and requirements, EOU will suspend enforcement of its COVID-19 Pandemic Face Covering Policy. 

N95/KN95 masks are highly effective at protecting the wearer, and are available near building entrances for those who would like to use them. Click here for information from the CDC about the effectiveness of N95/KN95 masks. 

State and federal requirements for wearing masks in health care settings (including the EOU Student Health Center), within public transit, and in other specialized settings remain in place. 

COVID testing and requirements for students returning from Spring Break

As our case numbers on campus and in our community continue to remain low, EOU has suspended mandatory testing for individuals who are not up to date on COVID vaccinations. As long as individuals are not experiencing symptoms, testing is not required to attend in-person classes and activities at the start of spring term. 

Students experiencing symptoms or in close contact with positive cases can attend free drop-in testing clinics in the Gilbert Center on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, March 29: 9 am to 11 am
  • Thursday, March 31: 9 am to 11 am
  • Tuesday, April 5: 9 am to 11 am
  • Thursday. April 7: 9 am to 11 am

Students returning from spring break who are experiencing symptoms should not attend class, and must contact the Health Center at 541-962-3524 or shc@eou.edu. 

Student Affairs also has free at-home rapid COVID tests available for students who would like to use them. Click here for information about free at-home rapid tests for all community members. 

EOU will continue to monitor confirmed and presumptive student COVID-19 cases and will remain in contact with local and state health officials as we assess changes in our safety and health protocols, including vaccination documentation and daily health reporting.

  • Students are expected to stay home if they have illness symptoms of any kind, and contact Student Health if they think they have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Students will continue to complete the Daily Self Health Check in Mountie Hub before arriving on campus.
