How to log into the computer

To log into the Smart Classroom PC:

  • Click “Other User”
  • Enter your Mountie-Pass credentials (email username and password)
  • Guests of EOU can log onto the PC by typing: .\eouuser – no password is required
  • Be sure to log out of the public computer once you are done

Access to AV cabinet

Faculty will be given a 4 digit code by the college or by the AV department to access the AV cabinets.


To open the cabinet:

  1. Enter in the 4 digit combination.
  2. Rotate the lever to the left to unlock.
  3. Pull to open the cabinet door.

To close the cabinet:

  1. Close the cabinet door until you hear the door latch.
  2. Ensure the lever is in its original vertical position.
  3. Pull on the cabinet door to ensure it’s secured properly. repeat if it is not.

  • Epson PowerLite 1940w Projector
  • Dell Optiplex 3020 computer (IT not AV)
  • Logitech wireless keyboard and touchpad
  • Gyro wireless mouse
  • Kramer VP-729 Switcher

  • 6-foot screen (mounted in the front)
  • Eiki brand overhead projector (EYB bulb)
  • Chromebook (safe)
  • Chromecast (safe)

  • Logitech Conference Camera (safe)
  • 10 Port USB Hub (safe)

To use the cabinet PC

  1. Make sure projector is powered on
  2. On the media switch in cabinet, the computer is set to Input 4, press 4 and wait 2-3 seconds (see Fig 1)
  3. If there is no signal make sure PC is on and it is not in sleep mode (press space bar to wake up)
  4. Use wireless mouse and keyboard to navigate through PC to desired material
  5. Return mouse to cradle when finished (needs to be recharged for next class)

To use a Laptop

  1. Make sure projector is powered on
  2. On the media switch in cabinet, the laptop is set to Input 3(VGA) or 5(HDMI), press 3 or 5 and wait 2-3 seconds (See Fig 1)
  3. Connect laptop using a VGA or HDMI cable
  4. Use laptop display function keys to toggle through display options (these keys vary for each laptop)
  5. Once finished unhook the video cable

To use the Apple TV

  • Make sure the SMART cart isobar is on. Turn on the SMART tv. You should see the name of the Apple TV on the display.
  • If you’re using an iOS mobile device, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open Control Center
    • In Control Center, tap AirPlay to Apple TV icon AirPlay Mirroring, then select your Apple TV from the list.
  • If you’re using a Macbook, click on the AirPlay icon on the right side of your Mac’s menu bar.
    • Click on ATV-ZH-109-1 from the dropdown.
  • If an AirPlay passcode appears on your TV screen, enter the passcode on your Apple device.

To use the Chromecast

  • Make sure the SMART cart isobar is on. Turn on the SMART tv. You should see the name of the Apple TV on the display.
  • Press the Source button on SMART remote and select HDMI 2
  • Casting from your phone, go to the app that you want to show.
    • Play your content and an icon should appear that looks like a rectangle with airwaves .
    • Press the Icon and select CC-ZH-109-1
  • Casting from your laptop, have Chrome browser open and click the Setting icon in the top right corner.
    • Click Cast then when you see the dropdown click on tab (if you only want to show the particular tab in your browser) or desktop (if you want the entire desktop)
    • Choose CC-ZH-109-1
    • Important note on audio: Note that you can only cast your desktop audio from Windows. If you cast your desktop from a Mac or Chrome OS computer, you’ll see the contents of your screen on your TV but won’t be able to hear any audio from your computer.


  • The Yeti Microphone is a plug an play. Simply plug in the USB and the power.
  • The Logitech Conference Camera and 10 port hub are also plug and play.
  • The TV remotes are very directional – point them directly at the TV
  • Please TURN OFF the TVs after use.
  • The Gyration Mouse must stay in the charging bay when not in use.

Batteries die…computers lock up…things happen…be prepared with a backup plan

Please keep the volume at reasonable levels respect your neighbors
