Abandoned and Begged-For Art Auction set for November 17th

The Visual Art League at Eastern Oregon University will present its Abandoned and Begged-For Art Auction on November 17th at 7:00 PM in the Loso Hall lobby on the Eastern Oregon University campus. There will be a live auction at 8 PM, and a silent auction will take place throughout the evening.

The Abandoned and Begged-For Auction is open to the public and the EOU community. There is no admission charge, and many items will feature bids starting at $2. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be available for attendees.

A great way to stock up on holiday gifts, the auction will feature work from EOU faculty, community members and EOU alumni including Peter Christian Johnson (ceramics), Cory Peeke (collage), Tom Dimond (glass), Austin McDonald (bronze), and Kevin Boylan (glass). Silent auction items will include abandoned work, or work left behind by former EOU students, including paintings, prints, photographs, and sculptural work.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Visual Art League and the Kat Galloway Memorial Scholarship. Kat was a fixture in the regional and national art community and a professor of printmaking at EOU at the time of her unexpected death in late 2009. The Galloway Scholarship was created following her passing in late 2009 and is awarded annually to a promising junior EOU Art major in preparation for their senior year.

The Visual Art League general fund provides opportunities for students to receive cash for materials, field trips, and visiting artists, and for various club functions.
