LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University offers a wide variety of educational opportunities and programs. Recently representatives from EOU reached out to regional students in a big way, by taking the information to Hermiston.
Faculty from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Science, Technology, Mathematics & Health Sciences Programs, WorkSource Oregon, EOU Career Center, Early College Initiatives and Admissions visited Hermiston to share programs and opportunities at EOU with regional schools. Sixty students from Hermiston High School and Irrigon High School came to learn about the different degrees and potential work and career futures.
Groups were given an opportunity to meet face-to-face with EOU faculty from the colleges. Representatives from EOU focused on admissions and early college initiatives, college-going culture, and how to be successful.
Representatives from EOU met with an additional 15 young people for about 20 minutes to share what opportunities for further education were available and share the great success stories surrounding the Summer Institutes.
“I think the outreach was very successful,” Kathleen Brown said. “It’s very rewarding to share news about the degree programs, Summer Initiatives, and relevant information that we believe can make a difference in people’s lives.”
Programs also focused on completing your degree for GED students, people who started college in the last three years but stopped, and Reach the Peak students who only have less than 15 credits left to graduate.
The Reach the Peak program offers returning students the opportunity to finish their degree while providing them with the support they need for success.
