LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Eastern Oregon University (EOU) Foundation Scholarship Application window has opened. Applications for students to apply for scholarships opened on Oct. 1. The scholarship application will remain open until February 1, 2024.
Students can fill out one easy application to help fund their EOU education. The application matches students to more than 100 potential scholarship opportunities from the EOU Foundation and institutional awards.
At EOU students have a chance to get some of the nearly $1 million the Foundation gives out every year.
For many scholarships are essential, in Eastern Oregon one scholarship is hoping to fill the void for mental health providers.
Retired Baker City physician Chuck Hoffman called the large scholarship gift integral to establishing and integrating behavioral health into primary health practices.
“That’s what, in part, this EOCCO scholarship can help do,” Hoffman said. “So many people are committed to doing what they do, but we need to help. We can get there and this is a step in that process, in the right direction.”
Hoffman said the hope for the new program and the scholarships is to attract students from Eastern Oregon who would establish and practice mental health services in the region where the need is great.
The Eastern Oregon University scholarship application will remain open until February 1, 2024.
Applications can be found at eou.edu/scholarships.
