MBA Program Policies
EOU’s fully online MBA program was ranked #6 in the state for best value.
The MBA program gives significant consideration to time-and place-bound individuals, offering working individuals the opportunity to complete their study efficiently and conveniently. We utilize online instruction, video conferencing, and satellite teaching. Our MBA program curriculum is designed in such a way that early courses help prepare students for coursework later in the program. For this reason, students are allowed to enter the program only in Fall term of each year.
Each class meets five times per term on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Courses alternate weeks in a term. For example, BA 501 will meet on weeks 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. BA 502 will meet on weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. In the “off” week for either course, students will be given web-based instruction and individual or group work.
Students who choose to participate in our MBA program online will benefit from a curriculum identical to our on campus program. Online students can take one to three courses each term. As with our on campus program.
Q: What can I do with an MBA degree?A: An MBA is an advanced business degree. Earning an MBA can lead to a higher salary, a position in management, and marketability in an ever-evolving job market. Effectively, with an MBA you provide yourself more value in just about every workplace.
Q: How much greater is my earning potential with an MBA degree?
A: The earning potential from an MBA depends on a lot of factors, for example, your professional experience before you earn the degree, the field you are interested, where you want to work, and the type of company – small vs large – you want to work for. In general, it is fair to say your ability to get and keep a job will improve (see MBA Employment 2013). Your salary ranges will depend on the area you want a career (see MBA Payscale).
Q: How long is the MBA program?
A: You can choose to complete the MBA program in as few as five 11-week quarters (or 15 months) or up to four years.
Q: When can I start?
A: You may begin the program in any term.
Q: Do I need to have a specific degree to qualify for the MBA program?
A: The ideal preparation for the MBA program is an undergraduate degree in Business or a closely related field (Ag Business, Economics, Accounting, etc). If you do not have an undergraduate degree in Business, you will need to show competency in core business principle areas through transcripted course work or approved on-line courses. Alternatively, if you have significant experience in the business world, this could be considered via resumes, certifications, and documented trainings.
Q: When do I need to submit my application?
A: We have a rolling admission. Applications are on a first come, first review basis. Your application must be complete before it will be reviewed. See the MBA website for current deadlines.
Q: What admission tests do I need to take?
A: If your GPA is below a 3.0, you must submit a GRE or GMAT Score with your application.
Q: What is the application fee?
A: There is no application fee!
Q: Can I work while in the program?
A: Absolutely! The MBA program allows students the ability to work and go to school.
Q: What kind of financial aid is available?
A: For financial aid please contact the Financial Aid Department at (800) 452-8639 or (541) 962-3550. You can also view specific Business scholarship/grant opportunities.

Applicants should hold a baccalaureate degree in business or related degree (Agribusiness, Finance, Accounting, Economics, etc.) from an accredited institution. Applications without this are still encouraged to apply but will be asked to demonstrate competency in 13 core concept areas including management, marketing, finance, accounting and other core business principles. Competency must be demonstrated prior to beginning the program and can be demonstrated through academic record, online preparatory courses, testing, or professional work experience and certifications.
A student can choose how they want to distribute the courses but to complete the program in five terms, the student must take three (3) classes each term for five terms. Students can select any array of classes and could take up to 15 terms to complete the program if they only take one class each term. However, a student must be a full-time student (3 classes for 9 credits) to receive financial aid.
Any student who receives a grade lower than a B- in any MBA course will be placed on probation and must meet with the MBA Program Coordinator. A second grade below a B- within the program will result in suspension from the program. In order to be reinstated, the student must meet with the MBA Faculty Committee and re-take at least one of the courses. Any grade below a C- is an unacceptable grade and the course must be repeated for a grade of B- or higher. In addition, students must have a minimum 3.00 grade point average in the program in order to graduate.
Eastern Oregon University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), located in Lenexa, Kansas.
“EOU’s MBA program allowed me the opportunity to expand my professional skills through interactive classes, a challenging master’s project, and practical advice from my professors and peers. I truly enjoyed the strong relationships I gained with professors through my project, as well as the experience of mentoring undergraduate interns. The skills I developed have prepared me to support EOU and the community into the future!”
