Medical Providers

Heather Wiggins, DNP, FNP-C, RN

Clinical Director, Family Nurse Practitioner, and OHSU School of Nursing Assistant Professor

Heather has been at the Student Health Center since September 2018.  Heather moved to Eastern Oregon from Wyoming and worked as a primary care provider in rural clinics in Wyoming and in Union prior to her role at OHSU and EOU.  She loves traveling, baking, hiking, and spending time with family.  Heather enjoys working with the incredibly compassionate team of staff and providers at the Student Health Center to provide holistic, patient centered care for all students.

Melissa (Misty) Free-Stouder, MSN, FNP-C, AGACNP, RN

Family Nurse Practitioner, and OHSU School of Nursing Instructor

Melissa (who goes by Misty) is a new provider at Student Health, starting in September 2019.  Misty is a recent graduate from the University of South Alabama with a dual role focus as a family nurse practitioner and an adult/gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.  She is native to Eastern Oregon and received her undergraduate nursing degree from OHSU.  Misty is passionate about providing a safe and understanding environment where students feel welcome, heard, and respected. She is looking forward to providing care to students at EOU.

PRN Providers:

Virginia (Ginny) Elder, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner, and OHSU School of Nursing Assistant Professor

Ginny has worked for OHSU since 1995 after moving to Eastern Oregon from Illinois.  She likes being with her family as well as gardening, camping, and reading.

Megan Brassine, FNP-C, RN

Family Nurse Practitioner, and OHSU School of Nursing Instructor

Megan joined the Student Health team in March 2021.  She relocated to La Grande from Salem, Oregon in July of 2019 to practice in rural Eastern Oregon, where she could be closer to her family in South Eastern Oregon.  Megan received her Bachelors of Science from OHSU in La Grande almost 16 years ago and she is very excited to return to her alma mater and teach future nurse leaders attending OHSU.  She has a diverse background as a nurse practitioner in primary care, student health and urgent care over the last 5 years.  Continuing to maintain a primary care practice while working at OHSU, she is very passionate about creating a safe, respectful and collaborative environment for the students to receive high quality care.  In her spare time she enjoys hiking, biking, gardening, swimming, rock climbing, riding horses on the farm back home and spending time with her husband and son.

Support Staff

Melanie Grubbe

Patient Access Specialist

Melanie starting working for OHSU in 2006 and is from La Grande.  She is also a Certified Veterinary Technician and likes spending time with her two dogs and Quarter horse.  Some more interests are being with friends and family, and trail riding in the Blue Mountains.

Cathy Patterson

Office Manager

Cathy began working for OHSU in 2020.  She enjoys spending time with her family, camping, growing raspberries and flowers, and crafting.
