The Agency: Marketing Practice in Action

The Agency is an exciting College of Business experiential learning course offering our business students an opportunity to practice the skills that they have learned or are learning in their marketing courses by working in project teams on real-world marketing problems. The Agency pairs student groups with real organizations and adds a sense of realism that comes from having to research, analyze, prepare and present a report on a tight deadline. We also offer the opportunity to gain experience in an industry or with an organization you would like to enter, giving you relevant examples to speak to during job interviews as well as the opportunity to “test-drive’ an industry or function to see if it is a good fit.

The Agency course is designed and led by Dr. Shari Carpenter, Ph.D., MBA. With over 30 years of business experience with a focus in marketing and human relations, she guides students to create and implement successful marketing campaigns.

Students gain experience.

  • Marketing Practice provides students a learning experience that can be directly applied to actual marketing clients. Students will work on real-life marketing projects that help grow the local and regional economy while earning credits toward a marketing concentration.

Businesses Grow.

  • Marketing Practice will help determine marketing needs and create solutions.  Initial meetings with potential “clients” will ensure the class researches and meets the needs of the organization.
