LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University students, alumni, and friends are invited to celebrate springtime on campus during Blue and Gold Weekend, taking place Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Packed with arts, athletics, and cultural activities, the weekend offers something for all ages and interests.
“It’s about building connections and engagement with our community, alumni, and students,” said EOU Athletic Director Anji Weissenfluh.
Festivities begin with the opening performance of Fiddler on the Roof at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14. This year’s spring musical, presented by the EOU Theatre Department, brings the Tony Award-winning classic to life in McKenzie Theatre. The show runs nightly at 7 p.m. from May 14 through May 16, with final performances on Saturday, May 17, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Loso Lobby box office and online.
Friday afternoon features the Mountaineer Athletic Association Golf Scramble at La Grande Country Club. Entry fees and proceeds support student-athlete scholarships through the EOU Foundation. To register, click here.
At 5 p.m. on Friday, EOU will host a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated Grand Staircase. The community is invited to attend this dedication, celebrating the enhanced connection between the university and the broader La Grande area.
The EOU Women’s Basketball Alumni Game will follow at 6 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
At 7 p.m. on Friday, a long-standing tradition returns with the annual EOU Powwow. Free and open to the public, the event features Native vendors, food, and traditional dances that celebrate regional Indigenous cultures. The Grand Entry begins at 7 p.m. on Friday and will repeat at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
A Friendship Feast, open to all community members, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17, in Gilbert Hall.
Saturday’s events begin with the Rita Monahan Run at 10 a.m., starting at Dorian Park near the corner of Sixth Street and H Avenue. Registration is $15 for community members and $10 for students.
Tailgating opens at 10 a.m. in the designated lot, followed by the Volleyball Alumni Game at 10:30 a.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
At 11 a.m., the EOU Women’s Soccer team will face off against alumni at Community Stadium.
The weekend’s premier athletic event, the EOU Football Spring Game, kicks off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Community Stadium.
Closing out the weekend, the EOU Men’s Soccer Alumni Game will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday at Community Stadium.
