In Oregon all teachers are now pk-12 licensed. However, those who complete elementary are only permitted to teach multiple subjects (self-contained) and secondary are only permitted to teach their given content area. As such realistically elementary is pk-6 and secondary is 6-12.
Secondary Pathway
-Direct to EOU (post HS grad)
-Major in multidisciplinary studies & elementary education w/ an ESOL concentration
-2 years of gen eds & 2 years in program
**apply to program winter of year 2
-Major in content area (4 years)
-Graduate then complete MAT SEC Program
**apply to MAT program winter of year 4
**remission of $45/cr is only at EOU for undergraduate program
–BMCC (2 years & complete OTP requirements = AAOT + Content Pathway)
-Transfer to EOU and complete elementary education w/an ESOL concentration
-2 years BMCC & 2 years EOU
**remission of $45/cr is only at EOU
–BMCC (2 years & complete OTP requirements = AAOT + Content Pathway for major)
-Transfer to EOU and complete major
-Graduate the complete MAT SEC Program
**apply to program winter of year 4
-Direct EOU major + MAT ELE Pathway (4yrs)
or
–BMCC 2 yrs + EOU 2 years
-Graduate then complete MAT ELE Program
