EOU Scholarships
The First Citizen Award
The First Citizen Award was created to encourage Native American students to enroll and complete a four-year degree from Eastern Oregon University. The First Citizen Award is endowed through the Eastern Oregon University Foundation. The First Citizen Award is renewable up to four years and has an option to increase in award amount each year student maintains all eligibility requirements. Applicants must:
- Be an undergraduate seeking their first degree
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per term
- Provide documentation of tribal and/or native corporation membership
- Maintain a 2.5 or above GPA
Responsibilities of recipient to maintain eligibility:
- Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above.
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per term
- Submit a “Thank You” card or letter addressed to the Diversity Scholarship Committee
- Demonstrate active involvement in 1 university recognized service project each year of award
- Maintain contact with the Native American Program coordinator
- Encouraged to volunteer to serve in a programming committee or event planning committee that works to address diversity awareness and education on campus.
- Utilize services available through the MOSAIC Center
