EOU ranks No.34 in US News Top Public Schools

LA GRANDE, Ore. – US News & World Report ranked Eastern Oregon University (EOU) No.34 in Top Public Schools in its 2027 Best Colleges rankings.

US News & World Report ranks more than 1,700 colleges and universities each year using up to 17 measures of academic quality and graduate success. Student outcomes carry the most weight and include graduation rates, first-year retention, and outcomes of students who receive Pell Grants. US News combines data from school surveys with federal sources, and a top academic official at each school must certify the data.

“As a public university, we exist to serve Oregonians and students far beyond our region,” said EOU President Kelly A. Ryan. “Being named among the top public schools reflects the work our faculty and staff do every day.”

EOU also ranked in two other categories. US News ranked the university No. 68 in Regional Universities West and No. 53 in Top Performers on Social Mobility. The social mobility category recognizes schools that help students from diverse economic backgrounds earn degrees.
