Dear EOU Community,
As we navigate the challenges posed by the ongoing wildfires affecting our region, I want to update you on some important measures we are taking to support our community during this difficult time.
You may notice a presence of RVs in the parking lot off 6th Street adjacent to Dorian Park in the coming days. These RVs belong to individuals and families who have been displaced by the fires. We are opening our campus to provide them with a safe place to stay during this emergency.
In addition to accommodating RVs, we are opening the Hoke Union Building for limited hours on the weekend (as well as regular hours during the week) to give community members and evacuees affected by the fires a place to escape the smoke and heat.
I encourage all members of our EOU community to show their support and understanding during this time. If you see someone in need, please offer a helping hand or direct them to Campus Safety and Security in Loso Hall 154 or call 541-962-3911. Our campus is known for its strong sense of community, and together, we can make a difference for those affected by these fires.
EOU is in contact with the Red Cross and the Office of Union County Emergency Management and we will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as needed. Thank you for your cooperation and compassion during this time.
Warm regards,
Kelly A. Ryan, Ph.D.President
