LA GRANDE, Ore. – In alignment with Oregon’s Early Literacy Success Initiative, Eastern Oregon University’s Reading Clinic, supported by the Schuberth/Urang Family, is pleased to announce the launch of its new online teacher training program “Building a Strong Foundation in Literacy”. This program is designed to provide educators across Oregon with essential training in literacy education, beginning in January 2024.
The online training program aims to support teacher’s professional development by providing comprehensive training in various aspects of literacy education. It is part of a broader effort to strengthen literacy skills among students in Oregon by providing educators with access to evidence-based literacy strategies.
The program’s curriculum includes several key learning modules, each focusing on critical components of literacy, and the program allows schools to tailor the training schedule to their specific needs.
After completing their training, teachers have the option to earn three graduate credits, which can be applied towards EOU’s Graduate Reading Intervention Endorsement program, offering an avenue for further professional development in literacy education.
For more details about this educational initiative or to enroll in the program, please email reading-clinic@eou.edu or contact Dr. Ronda Fritz, Director of EOU Reading Clinic, at rfritz@eou.edu. Grants are available to help cover the costs of training. Visit https://www.oregon.gov/ode/EarlyLiteracySuccessInitiative/Pages/default.aspx to learn more.
