LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University is offering a new scholarship opportunity for students interested in studying anthropology/sociology or psychology, made possible through a $100,000 grant from Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, Inc. (GOBHI).
GOBHI is dedicated to supporting health and community services in rural Oregon. By partnering with EOU, GOBHI is working to help new and current students who want to study anthropology/sociology or psychology to overcome financial barriers with the goal of bringing more resources to mental health providers of the region.
This grant will provide scholarships designed to help students who plan to live and work in eastern Oregon post-graduation and are part of a broader strategy to promote education and career opportunities in the region. The goal is to eliminate barriers to higher education and provide necessary resources to low-income students.
“We are excited to work with Eastern Oregon University to open up more opportunities for students in our rural communities.” Julie Leutschaft, the Chief Human Resources Officer at GOBHI said. “We believe in supporting education that can lead to meaningful careers right here in Eastern Oregon.”
