May 5, 2021 LA GRANDE, Ore. – The nation’s largest interactive learning festival will take place May 8 to 16 in Oregon. STEM Week Oregon is actively recruiting hosts, activity leaders and participants.
STEM Week Oregon, in partnership with Remake Learning Days Across America, debuts this spring in more than 17 regions with learning events designed to engage caregivers, parents and kids around the country. The activities will tie to science, technology, engineering, art and math.
The Greater Oregon STEM (GO STEM) Hub, located at Eastern Oregon University, plays a pivotal role in bringing these opportunities to rural families.
“This integrated approach to learning creates problem-solvers, innovators, critical thinkers and collaborative team players,” GO STEM Executive Director David Melville said. “We are looking for ways to include multigenerational, diverse and underserved groups.”
STEM Hubs across the state will host dozens of events during this weeklong learning festival. Each event invites parents and caregivers to learn alongside their children and offer relevant, engaging educational experiences for youth from pre-K to high school. The majority of events are free, and many will be virtual. The line-up includes Science Skills Sunday, Virtual Meet a Scientist, LEGO Follies and Balloon Bonanza.
