LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is excited to extend an invitation to EOU students to join their classmates on Feb. 8 for University Lobby Day at the Capitol Building in Salem.
University Lobby Day is a collaborative program between Oregon’s public universities to bring students from across the state to Salem. Students interact directly with state legislators and share how higher education funding influences their college experiences. Participants walk away with a greater understanding of the legislative process and how it affects their lives, leading to increased involvement in the democratic process.
Individuals who attend will have the opportunity to participate in virtual lobbying training on Monday, February 5. Additionally, there will be additional training during Lobby Day before students meet with legislators.
Students are encouraged to join in this day of lobbying to advocate for targeted investments that will support students inside the classroom and as they enter the workforce. Organizers have noted the event is a key opportunity for students to work with state legislators and advocate for important issues affecting their education and student experience.
Travel and lodging arrangements are supported by Eastern Oregon University and the Associated Students of Eastern Oregon University.
