LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University (EOU) takes immense pride in recognizing the dedication and achievements of our employees. Each month, EOU will celebrate three employees who exemplify the institution’s commitment to student success and educational excellence.
Jerred Jolin, Chair for the Special Education Programs and Assistant Professor is a leader in teacher education at EOU. As the driving force behind the Special Education Initial Teacher Licensure (SEITL) undergraduate program, Jolin has played a pivotal role in addressing the critical shortage of Special Education teachers in Oregon. His commitment to shaping the future of education is evident in the development of a rigorous, two-year hybrid program designed to equip aspiring educators with the skills and knowledge needed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.
Kris Martins, EOU’s Event and Conference Service Manager has a passion for student development and education. Martins has a keen focus on helping students foster practical skills and build meaningful relationships, Martins plays an important role in shaping the campus experience for students. Serving as a mentor and guide, she gives valuable management and supervisory skills to students working in her office. Through hands-on experience in event coordination, students acquire transferable skills that enhance their employability after graduation. Martins exemplifies EOU’s commitment to holistic education and student success.
As an Administrative. Program Specialist, Elilai Elobt-Kailang, supports the Regional Outreach and Innovation (ROI) Manager with administrative tasks, and project coordination, and serves as a primary resource for student workers and event management. Elobt-Kailang says one of the most fulfilling aspects of her work is witnessing students’ growth and development and knowing that she is helping to make a difference. “Working with a fantastic team and an incredible boss has been a blessing,” Elobt-Kailang said. “Seeing students achieve their goals and realize their potential is what makes my work the most fulfilling.”
