Though Eastern Oregon University works diligently to ensure the safety of all its employees and students accidents and hazards do arise. It is imperative that reporting happens immediately when an accident or hazard occurs so that EOU can respond in an efficient and timely manner to the situation and continue to protect the staff and students to the best of our ability.
If you have an accident or are injured while at work, please call Campus Security at (541) 962-3911 as soon as possible. You may also choose instead to use the report an accident form. Once an accident has been reported an investigation of the incident will occur, and a member of the safety committee’s incident team will reach out to you to discuss the issue at hand. It is important to note that all accidents or injuries must be reported within 48 hours even if medical attention or first aid is not required.
The best way to keep our Eastern Oregon University Campus safe is for all of us to work together to identify potential safety hazards. If while completing your normal tasks on campus you notice something that could potentially cause an injury or is a safety concern we ask that you submit it through our Safety Concern Submission Form. These concerns are reviewed and then prioritized based on urgency and resources. Some examples of safety concerns would be, icy sidewalks, water on floors, uneven walking surfaces, reduced visibility from lights being out, and build-up of debris or storage in high-traffic areas.
