Environmental Health and Safety

Our Mission:

Environmental Health & Safety is here to support the Eastern Oregon University Community by providing a safe and healthy environment to work and learn in.

Our Environmental Health & Safety team implements and manages our environmental health plans, such as, the fire/smoke plan, excessive heat plan, and chemical hygiene plan. The EOU EH&S team oversees the occupational health of its employees in their workspace. Some of these responsibilities include identifying and handling slip-trip-fall hazards, equipment guard safety, as well as proper use & training on campus equipment. They are responsible for monitoring laboratory safety, conducting inspections of student & faculty laboratory spaces, general safety assessments of work environments, as well as, providing employee safety training when necessary. The EOU Environmental Health & Safety team manages various regulated waste streams including but not limited to chemical waste streams from laboratory practices, biological waste, battery recycling, light bulb recycling, pesticides, fertilizers, and legacy waste.
