LA GRANDE, Ore. – In 1926, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution to observe Veterans Day annually. November 11 became a national holiday in 1938 when the nation paid tribute to all American veterans, giving thanks to living veterans who served the country honorably during war or peacetime.
EOU will honor veterans on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, beginning at 11:50 a.m. with ROTC students marching from the Quad to the flagpole, in the cul-de-sac on K Ave. ROTC students will perform the flag-raising ceremony. Students, staff, faculty, and the community are invited to this ceremony.
EOU welcomes everyone to join in showing respect and gratitude to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to the service of our nation.
In observance of Veterans Day, EOU will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023.
