LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University’s Board of Trustees will hold its 2023 annual retreat in John Day, Oregon, on Mon. Aug. 7, and Tues., Aug. 8.
On the first day of the retreat, the board will meet with local leaders to discuss how EOU can best assist the region in achieving its educational, employment, and economic development goals. A public reception will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 7, at the John Day Golf Club. Community members are welcome to attend and meet with trustees, and EOU leaders, and hear comments from President Dr. Kelly Ryan and Board Chair Cheryl Martin.
“The board of trustees intentionally holds its retreat in different locations to connect with area leaders and better understand the regions EOU serves,” said Tim Seydel, Vice President of University Advancement. “This is a great opportunity for community members, alumni, and friends to meet with trustees and EOU’s new president, Dr. Kelly Ryan, and for us to learn more about the needs of the area.”
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, the board will discuss updates to the university’s strategic plan and other institutional priorities and programs. Following the retreat, some trustees and university staff will travel to Silvies Valley Ranch for a tour and additional discussion of local educational needs and economic development.
The retreat agenda and related information will be posted to the board’s website on July 31. To learn more about EOU’s Board of Trustees, visit eou.edu/governance/.
