LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University’s third Colloquium of the academic year will feature the work of EK Esawi as he discusses the role of data analytics in the thermal modeling of the Yellowstone National Park geyser system.
Esawi’s presentation will take place on Jan. 12 from 4-5 p.m. in Ackerman hall, room 210. EK Esawi is the coordinator and Associate Professor of the EOU data analytics program. Esawi is a data scientist by training and holds dual graduate degrees in applied mathematics and geoinformatics.
“For this research, it’s the result of an earlier research project about modeling heart flow for the Yellowstone National park geyser system.,” Esawi said. “While I was working on the project with my advisor, I collected a large amount of data from the park’s website and I am currently processing the data and plan to do statistical analysis and publish the results.”
