LA GRANDE, Ore. – This year’s first Eastern Oregon University Colloquium will be highlighting the research of Amanda Villagómez on the important topic of burnout and how we can provide educators with mindsets and tools to mitigate and persevere through it.
The presentation will take place on November 10 from 4-5 p.m. in Ackerman hall, room 210. Villagómez is an Associate Professor in the College of Education and coordinates the Master of Science in Education program. She is passionate about growth through reflective practice and self-care which can be seen through her research.
“The ability to faithfully serve a long-term career in education requires resilience,” Villagómez said. “Burnout is not desirable; however, it is realistic that those who remain in the field will eventually experience it.”
This presentation draws from a narrative inquiry into the researcher’s first-hand experience to consider root factors and implications for solutions within the field of education.
