Social Media+ Student Coordinator

Interested in social media, marketing, and fitness—and want real-world experience to match? The Social Media Student Coordinator for the EOU Laboratory of Exercise Assessment and Performance (LEAP lab) helps promote the lab through creative content, digital marketing, and community engagement. You’ll gain hands-on experience creating reels, graphics, and educational posts while helping build LEAP’s presence across EOU and the greater Grande Ronde community.

Experiential Learning:Through this position, students will develop practical experience in planning, creating, and managing social media content as part of an organized marketing strategy. Students will apply foundational marketing and communication concepts to increase audience awareness and engagement, while building technical skills in photography, video production, basic cinematography, graphic design, and audio or podcast production. The role also strengthens career-ready skills such as professional communication, collaboration, time management, and community engagement through regular interaction with staff, students, research participants, and external partners—preparing students for entry-level roles in social media, digital marketing, and content creation.
Professional Development:The coordinator will work closely with EOU’s Public Relations Specialist connected to social media practices and protocols.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:The Social Media+ Student Coordinator will promote the LEAP lab to EOU students, employees, and the greater La Grande community at large. Specific duties include:
– Reel (1x/week) Filming in the lab, editing, writing captions, and choosing music
– Informative Posts
– Designing graphics in Canva or Adobe, writing short educational captions, and reviewing accuracy
– Stories (5x/week) Capturing photos/videos, adding text or polls
– Planning/Scheduling
– Engaging with followers
– Engaging with other accounts
– Brainstorming ideas, writing captions, scheduling
– Respond to comments and DMs
– Liking/commenting on related university or fitness pages
– Communicating with other companies and entities for potential partnerships or sponsorships
Minimum Qualifications:– Currently enrolled EOU student with sophomore, junior, or senior standing
– Currently enrolled as a Health and Human Performance or a Marketing Major
Preferred Qualifications:– Marketing coursework and/or training
– Experience utilizing social media and content creation
