Experiential Learning:Gain valuable practical experience in conducting exercise physiology tests. These critical skills help our students gain experience for graduate programs and careers in the health field. The Student Lab Aid will experience firsthand research in the field of exercise science and learn technical skills in regards to operating industry leading exercise science equipment such as lactate testing, blood glucose monitoring, the use of metabolic cart, the use of cycle and treadmill ergometers, and sweat testing.
Professional Development:The Student Lab Aid will be listed as an author on study results in which they participated, and may have the opportunity to present the work in a professional setting. They will also be included in any publications that result from their contributions. Gain professionalism and client relations experience by interacting with subjects, scheduling, and organizing testing protocols. 
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:The Student Lab Aid will assist the faculty LEAP Director and the LEAP Intern in lab regular lab operations and ongoing research projects. Specific duties include:
– Assist in conducting exercise testing including lactate threshold, VO2 max, exercise efficiency, Heart rate variability, and sweat testing
– Assist in ongoing research projects in the LEAP lab such as supervising subject exercise sessions and processing data, and compiling lab reports
– Help with maintaining the lab through cleaning, organization, and non-technical equipment maintenance
Minimum Qualifications:– Federal Work Study allocation from FAFSA
– Currently enrolled EOU student with sophomore, junior, or senior standing
– Currently enrolled as a Health and Human Performance Major
Preferred Qualifications:– Completed EXS 323 course
