Experiential Learning:This role offers students the chance to strengthen attention to detail, become comfortable using professional digital systems like LaserFiche, and build confidence in communication and organization. Through this position, students will gain practical office experience that supports a wide range of career paths, especially in business, administration, or accounting. Students will also gain an understanding of essential employability skills such as punctuality, reliability, time management, and following instructions.
Professional Development:Students will receive on-the-job training in document handling, scanning, uploading, and internal processes used in a payroll office setting. While formal certifications or training courses are not required, students will learn valuable administrative procedures and improve their computer proficiency. This is a great opportunity for those interested in building office and clerical experience to complement their academic work.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Scan physical documents and upload them to shared drives and LaserFiche
– Make copies and assist with organizing documentation
– Provide basic customer service as needed
– Occasionally deliver materials to other departments on campus
– Maintain confidentiality and follow instructions related to Payroll operations
Minimum Qualifications:– Enrolled at EOU (minimum of 6 credits for undergraduates or 9 credits for graduate students)
– In good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
– Ability to arrive to shifts on time and work reliably each week
– Basic computer proficiency
– Demonstrated attention to detail
– Willingness to take instruction and ask questions when needed
– Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in a professional office setting
Preferred Qualifications:– Experience working in an office or administrative setting
– Familiarity with scanning or uploading documents to shared folders or databases
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:– Strong organizational skills and ability to follow through on tasks
– Clear communication and customer service abilities
– Ability to work independently after receiving direction
– Awareness of and respect for the confidential nature of payroll-related work
– Interest in learning more about administrative functions in a higher education setting
