Alternative Spring Break

Alternative Spring Break

Alternative Spring Break is a week-long travel-based course focused on issues of place, language, and culture in the U.S. West. The theme for spring 2025 is “Water Ways,” following the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean, traveling down the Oregon coast to the Redwoods in Northern California, and then returning through central Oregon to La Grande.

Students selected for the program will earn two credits of WR 310: Water Ways (AEH Gen Ed) while visiting diverse community and cultural sites over spring break. Peer mentors helping design and leading the course will earn two credits of WR 410: Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies (AEH Gen Ed).

2025 trip dates: Sunday, March 23 – Saturday, March 29, 2025
