Program Outcomes


Students pursuing a Film Studies minor at Eastern Oregon University will:

  • Develop Critical Analysis Skills: Cultivate the ability to critically analyze films, understanding narrative structures, thematic content, visual styles, and their cultural significance.
  • Understand Historical Context: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the historical development of cinema, including major movements, influential filmmakers, and significant technological and production advancements.
  • Apply Film Theory and Criticism: Acquire knowledge of key theoretical frameworks and critical approaches in film studies, enabling the application of these perspectives in the analysis and interpretation of films.
  • Attain Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate basic proficiency in film production techniques, such as cinematography, editing, sound design, and screenwriting to form a practical appreciation of the filmmaking process.
