Practicum

A practicum is a supervised real-world work experience (while enrolled in college) designed to offer opportunity to explore career areas and learning situations through placement in external work environments. Students typically enroll in a practicum course after having compl;eted a substantial number of courses in their major. Students will have a faculty supervisor who is coordinating with a supervisor at the placement site.

Benefits: In a practicum experience, students typically will

• Explore career areas related to their academic major in a practical setting.
• Apply  classroom knowledge in real-world settings
• Begin to integrate skills and knowledge by working with 
• Interact and communicate with professionals in a work environment.

The duration and time commitment of a practicum experience is variable and may be limited to single term or extend over multiple terms. Students enrolled in a practicum course earn college credit.   Students should contact their professiona/lfaculty advisor for more information.
