Eastern Oregon University’s Dyslexia Graduate Certificate is a stand-alone, graduate-level program for individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree and want to strengthen their expertise in literacy instruction and dyslexia support.
Designed for current graduate students, practicing teachers, and working professionals, the certificate offers a focused pathway for those seeking continuing education or specialized preparation without committing to a full master’s degree. Students may enroll using the graduate application and begin coursework with ED 590: Foundations of Literacy Development and Dyslexia.
The program includes a sequential series of courses in literacy development, assessment, and intervention, followed by a supervised field placement. Field experience can often be completed in your own community, and practicing teachers may be able to integrate that work into their current classrooms.
This certificate also supports Oregon’s requirement that every elementary school have a dyslexia specialist and is part of the state-approved preparation options for educators serving in these roles.
This is a graduate certificate only and is not currently open to undergraduates.
To ensure broad access across Oregon and beyond, the certificate is delivered fully online through distance education formats. This design enables working professionals, rural educators, and out-of-area participants to engage in high-quality instruction without geographic barriers.
