Student Employment Program Intern

Be part of shaping the future of student employment at EOU! As the Student Employment Program Intern, you’ll help manage and develop the systems that support on-campus jobs. From tracking hiring activity and documenting what student employees are learning, to coordinating job postings and keeping job boards current, this role offers a behind-the-scenes look at program development and impact. You’ll also contribute to projects like the student employee newsletter and features that tell the stories of EOU student workers. This position is ideal for students looking for a higher level experience in management, leadership, human resources, data tracking, and/or project management.

Job Duration Academic Year (Fall through Spring Terms), Not expected to work during enrollment breaks.
Type of work schedule Flexible hours during the week (10–15 hours), scheduled around student’s classes. Primarily Monday–Thursday, between 8 AM – 3 PM.

Experiential Learning:Students will learn how to track and assess employment data, manage a job posting system, and document student learning outcomes. This position connects classroom learning to practical applications in administration, human resources, program coordination, and workforce development. By working with supervisors, student team members, and Career Services leadership, the intern will develop transferable skills in leadership, organization, analysis, and communication.
Professional Development:The intern will receive training in job board management, data tracking, and program coordination. Students will gain experience collecting, organizing, and communicating information in professional formats such as reports, newsletters, and stories/features. This position also provides opportunities to collaborate on policy-level initiatives like student employment assessment and program development.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Manage the EOU Campus Job Board.
– Coordinate job posting activity with team members to keep physical job boards current.
– Collaborate with supervisors to formulate job posting content using Chat GPT.
– Serve as a quality control resource for supervisors and student employees, ensuring accuracy and consistency in postings and records.
– Track student employee hiring and job posting activity across campus.
– Assist with organizing and inventorying position descriptions and employment data.
– Assist in the development of a learning assessment structure focused on documenting student employee experiential learning.
– Collect and document student employee stories/features.
– Support the content development and distribution of the student employee newsletter.
– Collaborate with Career Services leadership to develop and implement student employment program operational improvements.
– Conduct ongoing reviews of student workforce development training topics and activities
– Perform additional program support or special projects as assigned by the director.
Minimum Qualifications:– Must be enrolled at EOU with a Federal Work Study allocation.
– Strong organizational and task management skills.
– Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets).
– Basic digital literacy (publication formatting)
– Completed coursework/experience in management, marketing, human resources, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:– Experience in administrative work, data tracking, or program coordination.
– Interest in higher education, human resources, or program development.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:– Strong verbal and written communication skills
– Ability to work interdependently and successfully make progress on multiple projects.
– Attention to detail and consistency in data/documentation.
– Professionalism in communication and teamwork.
